BBC Media Action uses the power of media to support people to shape their own lives. As the BBC’s international development charity, we work with broadcasters, governments, non-governmental organisations and donors to provide information and stimulate positive change. BBC Media Action has been working in Cambodia since 2003 and has been responsible for programs such as Taste of Life, Loy9, Love9 and Klahan9. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Klahan9 TV production team that will launch a new TV series later this year.
- Lead BBC Media Action’s outreach work on Climate Adaptation in Cambodia, developing and implementing a strategy for increasing the reach and impact of our work through partnerships.
- Identify potential partners for outreach, and new relationships and maintain existing partnerships between BBC Media Action Cambodia and the government, international NGOs, CSOs, the media and other stakeholders.
- Oversee the development or re-versioning of BBC Media Actions climate adaptation media and communication materials for use by partners in their outreach work.
- Work closely with all teams across BBC Media Action Cambodia to ensure that communication with partners is planned, coordinated and effective.
- Maintain BBC Media Action Cambodia’s contact list of experts and practitioners from a range of different in selected geographical locations.
- Design training strategies and write training materials (including course structures, session plans and handout/toolkit materials).
- Deliver effective and engaging training of the trainers (ToT) for participants from partner organizations, including travel to the Provinces where necessary.
- Providing mentoring and follow-up support to partner organizations, both remotely and in person.
- Support the Project Manager to convene and maintain relationships with members of the the projects Technical Advisory Committee and suggest new potential members, as appropriate.
- Work closely with the BBC Media Action Cambodia’s administration team to ensure that the activity follows all procurement, contracting, travel and other policies and processes.
- Provide timely and accurate monitoring and reporting information for outreach activities.
- Work with the research and project team to assess the effectiveness of the outreach activities and evaluate its impact.
- Work closely with the Research Manager and programmes team to identify ‘stories of change’ in the community and support the development of a series of strong case studies that can be used on social media and other BBC Media Action channels.
- Develop a clear understanding of the editorial policies of the BBC and the editorial context of the project.
- Undertake any other relevant tasks or responsibilities as requested by your line manager.
Criteria
- Experience of partnership working, with the confidence and proven ability to deal with a wide range of stakeholders and partners.
- Experience of strategic partnership mapping.
- Experience in designing and delivering face-to-face outreach and training programmes in a development setting preferrebly Climate Adaptation
- Strong experience and knowledge of informal training methods, including group-work facilitation and participatory approaches.
- Experience of working in a development or related setting, with an understanding of the needs of socially excluded groups.
- Understanding of communications for development and its ability to help address development needs in Cambodia.
- Well developed IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to form and maintain effective working relationships at all levels.
- Excellent spoken and written Khmer language skills.
- Good English skills (written and spoken).
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the proven ability to prioritize, work independently and maintain attention to detail.
