SOS Children's Villages Cambodia is an independent social development organization active in 133 countries and territories. It provides long-term care in a family environment to orphaned and destitute children and supports local communities through educational, social and medical programmes. SOS Children's Villages Cambodia is currently seeking the qualified and competitive dynamic candidates to fill the following positions:
- Communication and Crisis Management Officer (1 Position)

- Design and implement strategic, results-oriented communications protocol for operational departments, knowledge departments and/or other initiatives
- Provide external relations and drive communications activities to profile SOS Children’s Villages Cambodia’s work amongst target audiences;
- Build and maintain close ties with prominent national and regional media outlets, working to enhance SOS Children’s Villages Cambodia’s visibility on a range of priority issues and initiatives;
- Anticipate important communication issues, including issues posing reputational risk, and guide the development and implementation of appropriate communication plans and strategies;
- Develop content for major communications activities including key messages/talking points, news releases, opinion pieces, and background documents;
- Prepares and edits a range of promotional materials including newsletters, media releases, articles, website content, annual report, brochures and other publications, for internal and external audiences,
- Provide technical support and guidance to SOS CVE program locations on the area of communication and preparation of promotional materials
- Promote knowledge sharing and collaboration by managing, writing and editing communications materials and developing communications products to support knowledge product dissemination;
- Ensure key messages and communications products are disseminated through appropriate channels to maximize efficacy.
- Undertakes a range of publicity and branding activities as required
- Manages SOS Children’s Villages Cambodia’s website, including updating and ongoing monitoring, gaining input from other SOS Children’s Villages Cambodia staff as necessary.
- Takes and edits picture of events, and beneficiaries including establishing picture gallery for the organization.
- Coordinates audio-visual productions both for the website and for other purposes.
- Coordinate the preparation and distribution of annual reports and other publications
- Key Results and Standards
- High standard of copy writing, editing and proofing is maintained in the production of communication materials.
- Publicity and branding activities are effectively coordinated and implemented.
- Events are properly planned, coordinated and documented.
- Appropriate and timely media responses made on issues affecting SOS Children’s Villages Cambodia.
- Effective communication and regular liaison maintained with appropriate SOS Children’s Villages Cambodia’s functional departments, facilities and staff, partners, stakeholders and target audiences.

- Educational Requirements
- BA in communications, journalism, development studies or related area in social sciences or humanities with proven experience in public relations, publicity, media relations, journalism or marketing.
- Relevant Experience and other requirements
- Suitability to undertake the responsibilities mentioned above at the required level
- 5 years relevant experience. Experience working with an NGO, preferably child-focused NGO is desirable.
- Demonstrated dedication to development and communications work
- Substantial experience in managing a full array of communications and public affairs responsibilities, with a demonstrated understanding of communications tools and approaches, including media operations and opinion survey
- Experience with new media, social media and development communication is an advantage.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in Khmer and English
- Strong surveying, writing and analytical skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and recognized as a team player
- Performs work independently in own field of specialization
- Knowledge and Skills
- Advanced skills in standard computer software applications/advanced MSWord Applications: Graphic design, website development, advanced PowerPoint, intermediate excel etc
- Must show capacity for innovation, idea generation, and strategic thinking.
- Must be highly organized with ability to prioritize assignments;
- Proven multi-tasking skills, including ability to work effectively under pressure, handle heavy volumes and meet demanding deadlines. Strong attention to detail necessary.
- Ability to work well independently, within a team environment.
- Ability to demonstrate effective communication skills and deal professionally and diplomatically with media, staff, children in SOS Children’s Villages Cambodia, and the general public.
- The ideal candidate should have a great deal of initiative and integrity, an understanding and/or interest in child care and development, and a balance of creative, technical, analytical and social/interpersonal skills.
