BBC Media Action is the BBC’s international development charity. We use media and communications to reduce poverty and promote human rights in developing countries. We partner with civil society, local media and others to produce creative programmes in multi-media formats which inform and engage audiences around key development issues, and strengthen the media sector through capacity building. Our work is built on insights from our research and engagement with communities, and is focused on three key themes: governance and human rights, health and resilience.
BBC Media Action has been working in Cambodia since 2003. Our work is focused on using TV and online media to reach young people in Cambodia. Loy9 helped get young people involved in local and national decision-making and Love9 helped young people learn about sexual and reproductive health issues. Klahan9 is currently working to improve young people's employment prospects.

Overall purpose:
We require an experienced graphic designer to develop, execute and produce graphic design work and animations for the full range of output across the Klahan9 programme.
This graphic designer will work with the TV and Digital producers and the Project Team to ensure that materials are delivered on time and in accordance with BBC Media Action’s high creative standards and editorial requirements.
- Design and create artwork and illustrations based on a brief and using the required design software for a range of output (TV, digital and other project outputs).
- Design and create short animations for use on social media and within TV content.
- Provide creative inputs for developing the layout.
- Pitch creative story ideas at weekly editorial meetings.
- Contribute ideas for ways to minimise cost and time.
- Liaise regularly with the Digital Team Manager and Senior Producer (TV) to ensure deliverables are on time, on budget and in line with the vision & strategy.
- Work under pressure to deliver project outputs quickly, efficiently and to a high standard.
- Develop design for Klahan9 communication material and outreach activities.
- Undertake any other relevant tasks or responsibilities as requested by your line manager.
- Candidates should show practical and technical creativity.
- Experience in 2D Modeling/ Vector Graphics is essential
- Well-developed technical skills and experience using graphics design and animation software including:
- Adobe Illustrator
- Adobe Photoshop
- Adobe In Design
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to form and maintain effective working relationships at all levels
- Ability to work quickly and creatively under pressure and deliver against set deadlines.
- Good communication skills to ensure editorial expectations are understood and realistic.
- Understand the importance of designing for a given target audience (15-30 year-old Khmer).
- Knowledge of social media content production – infographics, GIF etc. is desirable.
