BBC Media Action, the BBC’s international development charity, believes in the power of media and communication to help reduce poverty and support people in claiming their rights - our aim is to inform, connect and empower people around the world. We work in partnership to provide access to useful, timely, reliable information. We help people make sense of events, engage in dialogue, and take action to improve their lives. BBC Media Action reaches some 200 million people through local broadcast partners, BBC channels, online, mobile and print platforms and through personal communication. We are currently delivering projects in 28 countries. BBC Media Action has been working in Cambodia since 2003 and has been implementing the Multi-media Initiative for youth on Civic Education in Cambodia (Loy9), Sexual reproductive health and rights (Love9) and recently on employment opportunity (Klahan9).
- Under the supervision of the Research Officer, to support the design and implementation of qualitative study focused on social media preference/trend in Cambodia. This will include designing tools and managing along with conducting fieldwork such as moderating focus groups discussion/in-depth interview as well as employing other qualitative methods
- Summarize and analyse research findings as well as generate insights in order to inform to the digital team
- Produce report study of the research
- Fieldwork coordination and logistics planning, including monitoring the recruitment of research participants
- Communicate effectively to all key project stakeholders to ensure effective project communications and management
- Make sure that the participants are sought of consent and some of ethical issues prior interviews such as objectives of the study, confidentiality, and participate in the study without fear or force etc.
- Participate in training and meeting related to this study
- Perform other related tasks as required
- At least 2 years of experiences in doing qualitative research studies including focus group discussions and in-depth interviews and with rural people should be preferable
- Experience of designing and managing qualitative research in support of practical outcomes is an advantage
- Experience of undertaking qualitative fieldwork and adapting methods to challenging and resource-constrained conditions
- Experience in research around social media consumption/trend in Cambodia
- Strong background in social media trend is preferable
- Strong in observations, analysis and reporting skills
- Strong leadership and management skills
- Ability to communicate to local authority and relevant stakeholders to inform the research study and recruit research participants
- Ability to quality assures qualitative analysis and reporting
- Good command of written and spoken English; and fluent in Khmer.
- Be able to work in group and good personalities
- Ability to meet tight deadlines.
