GIZ is a federally owned enterprise and is supporting the German Government in achieving its objectives in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development.
The “Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit” - GIZ - is a German public-benefit federal enterprise owned by the German Government. As a service provider in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development and international education work, GIZ supports the German Government, mainly through the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) but also with other international commissioning parties, by implementing projects in the areas including economic development and employment promotion, energy and environment, peace and security with its development partners in more than 100 countries around the world.
In Cambodia, GIZ has worked with the Government of Cambodia starting 1994 to strengthen social protection and health, agri-food systems, sustainable economic development, good governance and peaceful communities under the respect of climate change. In addition to this, there are a number of special global, regional and sectoral programs with activities in Cambodia. GIZ Cambodia employs more than 230 professionals including around 170 national staff. The GIZ Country Office in Phnom Penh is in charge of the overall GIZ project portfolio, it takes responsibility for procurement, logistics and facilities, financial administration and management, human resources, information technology and security, among others for GIZ in Cambodia.
For the GIZ Country Office in Phnom Penh we are currently seeking Cambodian candidates for the position of Finance Specialist, based in Phnom Penh.
- Finance Specialist
- Perform general account posting in specific accounting software, including preparation, entering accounts receivable and payable in adherence to the general accounting principles and commercial prudence.
- Manage general open ledger items, asset accounting and process reports and financial statements.
- Verify invoices of procurement orders, check payment requests including advance payments and settlement statements.
- Carry out control checks as part of the GIZ’ internal control system and feedback to the managers.
- Manage house bank accounts, prepare and carry out payment runs and transfers.
- Process tax returns according to tax requirements.
- Accountant: BA in Accounting or comparable qualification
- At least 3 years of professional working experience in a similar position, preferable 5 – 8 years
- Proficiency in using accounting software programs
- Knowledge of taxation rules and regulations
- Good working knowledge of modern telecommunication systems, SAP Enterprise Resource Planning would be of advantage
- Flexibility and adaptability, creativity, problem solving and solution orientation
- Communication skills, good English language skills
- Strong customer service orientation
