The Institut Pasteur du Cambodge (IPC) is a Cambodian non-for-profit research institution established in 1953, IPC is today a scientific research establishment declared of public utility placed under the high patronage of the Ministry of Health of the Kingdom of Cambodia and under the responsibility of the Institute Pasteur on the scientific and technical levels. The IPC is a member of the Pasteur Network, which brings together more than 30 institutes present on five continents. It shares the Pasteurian values and the ethical charter to which the Pasteur Institutes are bound. The IPC has more than 300 employees, including about 30 expatriates of 22 nationalities and includes 6 research units. It carries out research activities in biomedical research, public health and service activities (Medical Biology Laboratory, Vaccination Service including Rabies Preventive Center and water and food analyses) and training.
The MBL has around 35 staff, including 4 medical doctors or pharmacist-biologists. It is divided into six sections: (1) Reception, (2) Specimen collection area, (3) Microbiology laboratory, (4) Mycobacteriology laboratory, (5) Hematology/Blood biology laboratory, and (6) the Molecular biology platform. The MBL is accredited to ISO 15189 by the French Accreditation Committee (COFRAC), with 62.9% of its activity within the accreditation scope. The MBL provides a platform for comprehensive medical laboratory testing. A panel of approximately 150 tests is offered to public/private hospitals and clinics, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and individual patients.
- Carry out medical biology examinations for all patients referred to the Medical Biology Laboratory;
- Supervise medical biology procedures performed by staff.
- Monitor the proper functioning of analytical systems: up-to-date SOPs, IQC, EQC, quality indicators
- Provide support for the technical validation carried out by the technicians;
- Perform biological validation of the results based on clinical data and patient history;
- Interpret the results, sign reports, and communicate the test results to laboratory users as required.
- Provide advisory services to laboratory users.
- Ensure the implementation of the laboratory's quality management system and continual improvement in accordance with ISO 15189 requirements.
- Supports the Head of the MBL
- All activities required to perform medical biology examinations for patients referred to the MBL.
- Overseeing the laboratory operations and supervising technical staff.
- Maintaining and expanding its ISO 15189 accreditation scope (MBL is accredited by the French Accreditation Committee COFRAC since 2018).
- Developing laboratory activities, including extending opening hours, broadening the test catalog, and opening additional specimen collection sites.
- Strengthening communication with laboratory users through existing and new channels.
- Khmer - Fluent
- English - Fluent is required
- French is preferred
- At least of experience in medical laboratory practice for 5 years
- Pharmacist or Medical Doctor with DES or Master degree in Medical Biology
- Comprehensive knowledge of all medical biology disciplines: Microbiology, Hematology (cytology), Biochemistry, Immuno-serology, and Molecular Biology.
- Good communication, organizational skills, and teamwork.
- Supervisory and training capacity.
- Strong expertise in medical microbiology (Could be a plus)
- Demonstrated scientific knowledge and ability to contribute to research projects. Good knowledge of ISO 15189 quality management system and accreditation process (Could be a plus)
