The Institut Pasteur du Cambodge (IPC) is a Cambodian non-for-profit research institution established in 1953, IPC is today a scientific research establishment declared of public utility placed under the high patronage of the Ministry of Health of the Kingdom of Cambodia and under the responsibility of the Institute Pasteur on the scientific and technical levels. The IPC is a member of the Pasteur Network, which brings together 33 institutes present on five continents. It shares the Pasteurian values and the ethical charter to which the Pasteur Institutes are bound. The IPC has more than 300 employees, including about 30 expatriates of 10 nationalities and includes 6 research units. It carries out research activities in health biology, public health and service activities (Medical Biology Laboratory, vaccinations and water and food analyses) and training.

- Scientific data analysis
- Perform quantitative, statistical, and qualitative analyses of scientific data, with particular emphasis on DNA and RNA sequencing data generated using next-generation sequencing technologies.
- Develop and execute reproducible bioinformatics analyses using command-line tools, Python, and workflow management systems such as Nextflow.
- Analyse single-cell RNA sequencing data using established tools and pipelines, primarily in R.
- Work closely with biologists, clinicians, and other scientists to define analysis strategies, interpret results, and communicate findings.
- Contribute to the preparation of figures, reports, presentations, and scientific publications.
- Software development
- Design, implement, test, document, and maintain open-source software tools and reproducible bioinformatics pipelines.
- Adapt existing tools and workflows to the requirements of specific research projects.
- Apply good software-engineering practices, including version control, testing, code review, documentation, and reproducible environment management.
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for the use of software tools and analytical workflows in scientific research and infectious-disease surveillance.
- Training and capacity building
- Contribute to internal training activities organized by the BAIA Unit, including courses in Linux, programming, bioinformatics, high-performance computing, and artificial intelligence.
- Participate as a tutor or co-instructor in workshops and training activities delivered at IPC or partner institutions.
- Prepare technical documentation, tutorials, practical exercises, and other training materials.
- English - Good
- Master's Degree in IT, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science or a related field, OR
- Master's Degree in Biology, Pharmacology, Bioengineering, Infectiology or related field
- Previous experiences with Linux command line (Bash)
- Basic knowledge of computer programming or scripting
- Knowledge or willingness to learn advanced use and programming of R and Python
- Willingness to learn advanced Bioinformatics techniques and methods
- Language: English (very good knowledge)
- Strong personal affinity to technical work and computer programming
- Attention to detail and organization necessary to work in a scientific research setting
- Commitment to IPC’s mission in advancing science and public health in Cambodia.
- Problem-solving mindset and capability of interpreting complex project requirements.
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work and learn independently
- Adaptability and flexibility in working within a dynamic, multicultural, and interdisciplinary environment
- Capability of team play and willingness of effective knowledge sharing in the unit
