Smiling Gecko Cambodia (SGC) was officially registered in 2014 as a local non-profit NGO in Cambodia. It provides direct aid in the form of finance and other support to the needy in Cambodia, sponsoring projects that are sustainable both from an ecological and economic standpoint. We created a self-sufficient ecosystem for rural communities in Cambodia including Smiling Gecko Campus and Farmhouse Resort & Spa and The Gong. Farmhouse Resort & Spa is located in the countryside about 65 km north of Phnom Penh, surrounded by paddy fields and rolling hills. The Farmhouse Resort & Spa has 34 tastefully furnished rooms and suites spread over 17 bungalows in a classic Khmer style and more contemporary. The resort features multiple dining options from the main Farmhouse Restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, over a very relaxing pool lounge bar to the dining extravaganza of “Restaurant Un” and the even more exclusive “Chef’s Table” situated at the founder’s private bungalow. The Sanctuary Spa with treatment rooms in 8 free-standing buildings, its pool, and the adjoining Sanctuary Café. The Spa menu is extensive and ranges from classic massages and couple massages to treatments with sauna or whirlpool use. In addition, the spa has a fully equipped gym as well as a small and two large yoga shalas.
- Head Nurse (1 Position)
Clinic Operation:
- Deliver nursing care to patients, students, and staff members in accordance with established nursing protocols and standards of practice.
- Perform health assessments, triage patients, and assist in medical procedures under the supervision of healthcare providers.
- Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as prescribed, and monitor patient responses and vital signs.
- Educate patients on health promotion, disease prevention, and self-care practices to improve health outcomes.
- Collaborate with doctors, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and treatment plans.
- Maintain accurate medical records, document nursing interventions, and ensure patient confidentiality.
- Provide emotional support, counseling, and patient advocacy to individuals and families during healthcare encounters.
- Participate in nursing rounds, staff meetings, and quality improvement activities to enhance nursing practice and patient safety.
- Adhere to nursing ethical standards, infection control protocols, and regulatory requirements in clinical practice.
- Contribute to community health promotion activities, disease prevention programs, and health education campaigns.
- Stay updated on medical advances, treatment protocols, and best practices in primary care to deliver evidence-based care.
Community &School Engagement:
- Health Education and Promotion: Nurses can play a key role in conducting health education workshops, seminars, and outreach programs to raise awareness about various health issues, promote healthy lifestyles, and educate community members on preventive care practices. This can include topics such as nutrition, exercise, mental health, and disease.
- Support group and Counseling: Nurses can lead support groups, counseling sessions, and wellness programs for community members facing health challenges, chronic conditions, or mental health issues. By providing emotional support, education, and coping strategies, nurses can empower individuals to make positive health choices and improve their well-being.
- Community Health Assessments: Nurses can collaborate with community organizations, public health agencies, and local stakeholders to conduct community health assessments. By collecting data on health indicators, social determinants of health, and community needs, nurses can help identify health disparities, prioritize interventions, and develop targeted health programs.
- Partnerships and Collaborations: Nurses can establish partnerships with community-based organizations, schools, faith-based groups, and grassroots initiatives to address specific health concerns within the community. By collaborating with local stakeholders, nurses can leverage resources, share expertise, and develop sustainable health promotion initiatives.
- Nursing degree (BScN or ADN) with valid nursing license in Cambodia.
- Certification as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Nurse Practitioner (NP).
- Minimum of 2-3 years of clinical nursing experience in primary care, community health, or public health settings.
- Proficient in nursing assessment, medication administration, wound care, and patient education.
- Strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and cultural sensitivity to provide patient-centered care.
- Commitment to continuing education, skills development, and evidence-based nursing practice.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of Khmer or other local languages is a plus.
