The Women’s Network for Unity was founded at the end of 2002 by over 160 male, transgender, lesbian and heterosexual female sex workers with its first election to recruit seven secretariat members to work on behalf of WNU. WNU has been registered with the Ministry of Interior since June 2004, aims to become a union with 5000 members.
WNU promotes the human rights and civil liberties of sex workers and calls for recognition their rights as workers to earn a livelihood free from exploitation and oppression. WNU also works to build networks capable of promoting dignity and justice for sex workers and of combating all forms of violence (including human trafficking), discrimination and HIV infection
- Managing Director
- Provide effective, timely leadership and management of all WNU operations in a manner consistent with organizational practice, Policies and Procedures, Donor Agreement and other legal and statutory requirements
- Demonstrate professional behavior toward clients, staff, management, and other services
- Act in the best interests of the organization and represent the services in a professional manner
- Ensure the organization acts transparently, is inclusive and acts within democratic, non-aligned and open principles
- Ensure that all communication within the organization is respectfully undertaken
- Manage and monitor the organization’s adherence to all relevant laws, regulations, standards, contracts, service agreements, accountabilities and organizational policies and procedures
- Responsible for the planning direction, development, administration, supervision and implementation of the comprehensive development program that will complement
- Negotiate and liaise with the funding body about budgets and program reports with partner agency on behalf of the board
- In conjunction with management, staff and liaison officer develop the annual and narrative both programs and financial reports
- Manage the organization, fund development, and strategic/tactical planning and operational directions
- Develop community relationships, direct programs and events to cultivate, motivate and solicit individual, organization and corporate donors.
- Raise public awareness on sex workers’ rights and WNU profile
- Coordinate with the board of director to update all the organizational development
- Liaise with Liaison Officer, Finance Officer to prepare annual financial audit
- Oversee the management of the organization’s membership and ensure a working relationship with the United Sisterhood Alliance (Us) including support and input into the Us alliance as a member Organization
- Coordinate with Us coordinators Committee in making decision on organization development
- Organize and resource monthly, quarterly board meeting
- Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned
- Qualification Desire
- Proven history of working with the marginalize and vulnerable groups, working to support and build people movements and grassroots communities and networks
- Demonstrated strong organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to work with community, and public entities
- Demonstrated to be a strong leader and an energetic and passionate leader for WNU
- Demonstrated ability to provide effective oral and written correspondence, proposals, grants and solicitations.
- Knowledge of management and strong interpersonal skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years of professional experience, preferably directly involved with non-profit, fundraising in a leadership capacity, or an any combination of education, training and experience providing the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform essential job function.
