The Mines Advisory Group (MAG) is a British based Non-Governmental Organization engaged in the eradication of landmines and other unexploded ordnance. MAG’s mission is to build the futures of people affected by the remnants of conflict through responsive, quality-driven and progressive action. We remove the physical threat of injury and death and alleviate economic devastation. We provide clearance and education enabling an escape from the poverty and suffering caused by conflict. MAG has been working in the field of Humanitarian Mine Action in Cambodia since 1992.
MAG is now seeking applications from suitably qualified and experienced Cambodian Nationals to fill the following position:
- Medic Supervisor (1 Position)
- Specific areas of responsibility:
- Operational
- Ensure that the programme’s Medics are supported and monitored to perform their duties according to their job specification and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) through regular site visits and ongoing remote supervision.
- Ensure SOPs and national standards concerning medical and emergency care are implemented and adhered to throughout the programme.
- Ensure that adequate medical resources and capacity are provided for each team in the programme.
- To ensure continuous medical support for operational teams in the absence of an assigned team medic, delegate this responsibility to qualified personnel as appropriate, ensuring they are briefed and equipped to respond to medical needs during operations.
- Ensure all medical kits are equipped following SOPs and that any expired or unserviceable item is replaced immediately.
- Conduct assessments of medical standards and identify training needs for field medics and other staff as required.
- Deliver induction and refresher training for field medics and other staff as required.
- Delivery of training, as per the standard Training Management Plans produced by the Global Medical Coordinator.
- Participate in the recruitment and selection of field medics to ensure MAG recruits medics with appropriate skills and experience.
- Work with MAG’s Global Medical Coordinator to update the standard equipment list for each type of medical bag on an annual basis.
- Participate in operational and procurement planning and provide lists of medical equipment requirements and resupply.
- Ensure that the medical evacuation plans for the tasks are maintained, practised and updated as appropriate in cooperation with the FOC/TFM/STM/TOM.
- Coordinate and manage all MEDEVAC and CASEVAC situations as and when required.
- Plan and coordinate the QA medical schedule with the TMEU so that medics are regularly evaluated to ensure that they are competent to deal with medical situations.
- Ensure that the medics perform their duties according to their job descriptions and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) through regular QA visits.
- Should any field staff require medical services, treatment or hospitalisation, this is to be communicated to the TOM, STM, TFM, FOC, and relevant Base manager.
- Be actively involved in ensuring that staff keep their field accommodation clean and maintain basic hygiene routines, also provide advice to all staff on disease prevention through regular visits and briefings/presentations.
- Maintain a healthy working relationship with the Government and private hospitals in MAG’s AoR.
- Carry out any other duties deemed necessary and reasonable to meet MAG’s operational requirements, as requested by the line manager or supervisor.
- Deliver Intermediate Life Support (ILS) as per MAG/IMAS standards to medic trainees following the TMPs provided by the GMC.
- Support the GMC when visiting the programme with any training and/or assessments of medics.
- Manage and task the Medical TL.
- Have direct oversight of the procurement of medical supplies by both Areas of Operations.
- Reporting and Record Keeping
- Submit monthly operational reports of all medical activities undertaken in the programme.
- Ensure that all medical records for staff are complete and up to date.
- Ensure that Medic Team Leaders submit a list of minimum stock items requiring replenishment to maintain operational readiness.
- Advice and Assistance
- Provide support and medical advice to programme management in managing staff medical cases.
- Assist Field operations coordinators (FOC), the Technical Field Managers (TFM’s), Standards and training manager (STM) and the Technical Operations Manager (TOM) in the medical aspects of incident/accident and investigation reporting procedures, as and when required.
- Assist the FOCs and TFMs in developing and implementing Medevac and Casevac procedures for field staff.
- Seek information on new developments in the medical field and recommend updates in equipment and training to the STM.
- Shared Responsibilities
- All field team members have a shared responsibility to maintain high levels of hygiene and health and safety standards in operational and accommodation areas.
- Perform any other duties deemed necessary and reasonable to meet MAG’s operational requirements, as requested by your line manager and or TOM.
- Responsibilities of all staff:
- As part of their roles, all MAG staff are required to:

- Ensure familiarity with and adhere to all MAG policies and procedures and keep informed of MAG activities
- Undertake and apply learning from appropriate training and development programmes.
- Undertake the role in a manner appropriate to the cultural context and within the local legal framework
- On occasion, work outside regular working hours as circumstances dictate.
- Essential experience and qualifications
- Essential Experience with at least 3 years of field experience
- Previous experience, ideally in a trauma environment, in a hospital/clinic environment
- Experience in providing training and/or managing and motivating a team
- Essential Skills and Knowledge
- Preferably a satisfactory level of written and spoken English.

- Applicable and recognised medical qualifications (Nursing Diploma or higher) within Cambodia
